Nell Welch Brewer
(May 5, 1939 – March 22, 2023)

Nell Brewer, 83, of Florence, Mississippi passed away from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Bedford Care Center in Mendenhall, Mississippi. She was born on Friday, May 5, 1939, in Simpson County, Mississippi.

Mrs. Nell was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Mendenhall, Mississippi.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.  She enjoyed singing and most of all spending time with her family.  She will be greatly missed by all of her loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson C. Brewer, Jr.; father, Willoughby Welch; mother, Ivester Cliburn Welch; and brothers, Louis Welch, John Welch and Willie C. Welch.

Survivors include her two sons, Roger Welch (Karen) of Mendenhall, MS and Marshall Brewer (Leigh) of Hattiesburg, MS; two daughters, Tanya Brewer Evans (Phil) of Florence, MS and Darlene Brewer Davis of Magee, MS; eight grandchildren, Adrian Brewer (Kenneth Dunnam) of Guntown, MS, Lori Welch Pierce (James) of Florence, MS, Lesley Welch Cameron (George IV) of Florence, MS, Christy Brewer of Redding, CA, Jennifer Brown of Clinton, MS, Jonathan Brown of Clinton, MS, Troy Davis of Magee, MS and Justin Dickerson of Magee, MS; fifteen great-grandchildren, Beau Dunnam of Guntown, MS, Landon Mullins of Florence, MS, Logan Mullins of Florence, MS, Liam Pierce of Florence, MS, George “Junior” Cameron V, of Ypsilanti, MI, Alexa Cameron of Kalamazoo, MI, Karsen Archuleta of Richland, MS, Kayden Brown of Clinton, MS, Kamron Moore of Clinton, MS, John Caleb Brown of Clinton, MS, Stella Davis of Magee, MS, Alaina Davis of Magee, MS, Benton Smith of Magee, MS, Kash Bynum of Magee, MS, Audriana Carmichal of Magee, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall, 3077 Simpson Hwy 13, Mendenhall, Mississippi.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Welch Cemetery in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Dr. Frank Harmon, Bro. Earl Clark, and Bro. Bruce Smith will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401

Pallbearers will be James Pierce, George Cameron, Danny Welch, Kenneth Dunnam, Landon Mullins, Logan Mullins, and Karson Archuleta.

Honorary pallbearers will be Liam Pierce, Beau Dunnam, Kayden Brown, Kamron Moore, and John Caleb Brown.

Patrice is married to Greg Boykin and they have two sons, Bradley & Alex Boykin. Patrice is a lifetime resident of Simpson County. Patrice retired after 25 years in the Insurance industry where 23 of those years were with State Farm Insurance in Magee. She is very active in the community and has served in several leadership roles. Patrice has been a Secretary for the Magee Touchdown Club for 19 years and President of the MS Scholars of Simpson County. Patrice was a member of the Magee Adopt A School Program. She was elected to a term on the Simpson County School Board. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Magee Chamber of Commerce. She serves on the Keep Magee Beautiful Committee and is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Simpson County Technical Center. Patrice is a member of the Simpson County Republican Executive Committee. Multiple times, Patrice was named Parent of the Year for Magee Schools as well as District Parent of the Year for the Simpson County School District. Patrice & her family are members of New Hope Baptist Church.
