The Scriptural passage for today is found in Psalm 34:7: “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and He delivers them.” The psalmist knew he was protected by God through His angels. What a comfort it was to the psalmist all those years ago, and we are assured today of that same protection. Yes, I believe in angels, God’s messengers. In the old Primitive Baptist hymnal, there’s a song based upon this verse of Scripture entitled “O, Bear Me Up, Angels,” and the chorus contains these lyrics: “O, bear me up, angels, across life’s shifting sands. If I should stumble, bear me up in Your hands.” Thank you, God, for this calm assurance. Amen!
Today, I hope each of us will share with others the love, joy, and kindness with which God has imbued us. As we encounter our fellow man, be kind and gentle and speak words of encouragement. It does become easier with practice.
