Myrlis Grubbs McIntosh died peacefully at home due to congestive heart failure on March 9, 2015. She was born February 15, 1921, in Magee, MS, where she lived her entire life.
She was a stay at home mom, an Avon representative, enjoyed working in her yard and growing flowers. She was a member of the Mississippi Track Club and participated in road races until failing health. Myrlis was a faithful member of Goodwater Baptist Church.
Myrlis McIntosh was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Etta Grubbs, her husband, James Gerald McIntosh, siblings, Alvin Grubbs, Claude Grubbs, Herbert Grubbs and Kate Ritter, daughter, Lynn McIntosh Channell, and son-in-law, Charles Sydney (Pete) Channell II.
Survivors include: daughters: Jerri (Dick) Bennett of Magee and Ann (Pat) Ross of Clinton; brother, Billy Wilson Grubbs of Magee; sisters-in-law, Joyce Grubbs of Magee and June Grubbs of Jackson, plus numerous nieces and nephews; Granddaughters: Staci (Tim) Daniels, LeAnn Ross Howard, Ashley (Kirk) Frowick, Patti (Jimmy) Dickerson, and Jamie (Marc) Petro; Great granddaughters: Morgan Daniels, Skye Frowick, Rebecca Lynn Dickerson, Lyndsay Dickerson, Lainey Channell, and Miriam Sage Bennett; Grandsons: Jeff Bennett, Ty (Stacey) Bennett, John (Ginger) Bennett, Jim (Mandy) Channell and Chuck Channell; Great grandsons: Bailey Ross Howard, Kyle Bennett, Will Bennett, Kiefer Frowick, Jack Channell, Stanton Bennett, Easton and Ryder Channell.
Arrangements will be provided by Tutor Funeral Home at 822 Simpson HWY 149 in Magee. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 12, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and Friday, March 13, 10:00 a.m. at Goodwater Baptist Church in Magee followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.
Pallbearers: Jeff Bennett, Ty Bennett, John Bennett, Chuck Channell, Jim Channell, Tim Daniels, Jimmy Dickerson, Bailey Howard and Marc Petro.
The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Pruitt, family physician, hospice doctors/nurses, chaplain, staff, and members of Goodwater Baptist Church for all the care, kindness and special treatment given to our loved one. Also, the family extends gratitude to the faithful sitters: Lynda James, Missy Bashline and Bonnie Harper.
