Marlene Welch Obituary

Mrs. Marlene Welch went to her heavenly home on Monday, February 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 24, 1934, to Ernest Chesney and Eloyce Herrington Chesney in Little Rock, MS.

Marlene was a faithful Christian who lived her life as a testament to serving her Lord. In 1955, she joined Rials Creek Church and has been a devout member for sixty-nine years. She married the love of her life, Lennis Welch, and they were happily married for over forty-nine years until his death. They both worked in local Simpson County offices; he was the Chancery Clerk, and she worked for the Department of Human Services for forty-two years. Not only did they ride to work together every day, but they also ate lunch with each other daily. She loved taking care of her family and cooking for them. She often cooked for church functions as well. She had a giving heart and a sweet spirit. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by her son, Darrell Welch (Mary); daughter, Darla Huffman (Bo); sister, Marie Spence; grandchildren, Derek Huffman (Haylee), Danielle Darden (John Amory), and Hayden Huffman and three-great-grandchildren, Reid, Renlee and Jacob; sister-in-law, Frances Welch, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
