Mississippi College admissions leaders are once again welcoming prospective students and parents to tour the Clinton campus.

Due to this Spring’s COVID-19 pandemic, the MC tours were stopped for nearly three months. But the campus visits resumed on May 26, officials say.

MC leaders say safe social distancing will be practiced during upcoming tours. The number of campus visitors will be limited.

There will be daily campus tours allowed for a maximum of six prospective students, says Michael Wright, director of freshman recruitment. There will be three students arriving in the morning, and three more coming in the afternoon. Each student is permitted to bring up to two guests.

Wright and his colleagues have stayed busy since the MC tours returned following the Memorial Day weekend. “People are banging down the door trying to come see the place.”

In addition to university’s admissions team in Nelson Hall, President Blake Thompson serves as a big help to MC recruiters. Each week, Dr. Thompson hosts Zoom meetings with prospective students.

Other Zoom meetings are frequently occurring as Mississippi College officials trumpet the benefits of an education at the 194-year-old Christian university.

“We’ve hosted Zoom meetings throughout the pandemic featuring academic departments, the athletic department and different campus interest groups,” Wright said. “We had an overwhelmingly positive response and will continue to utilize Zoom in creative ways as we go forward.”

There are other signs the Baptist-affiliated university is starting to return to normal amid the worldwide health emergency.

Among major events, Mississippi College officials scheduled an August 1 graduation on the Clinton campus for the Class of 2020. MC Law School’s commencement is set for First Baptist Church Jackson on August 7. Fall semester classes will begin August 17.

Other activities are booked for the Clinton campus. That includes Fall Preview Days for prospective Mississippi College students and parents. The dates are September 26 and November 7, says admissions director Kyle Brantley.

Preview Days are a great way to learn about MC academic programs, student organizations, financial aid, athletic teams and much more. Dr. Thompson, professors, staff and student leaders welcome the visitors.

Wright encourages people interested in taking Clinton campus tours over the next few months to make an appointment at www.mc.edu/visit
