Below is a copy of what Michael posted on Facebook:

“This past year has prolly been one of the best years of my life. I got to finally take a job doing what I love to do. God has blessed me in multiple ways but being employed at Columbia Fire Department is at the top. I met and worked with some of the best people around. I am thankful for this job and the people I work with. I would like to thank my coworkers for voting me as “Rookie of the Year”. I take great pride in being given this. I wouldn’t be where I am today if weren’t for a few certain people and I am thankful for them. Looking forward to another great year serving the citizens of Columbia, MS. Congrats to all the others who received awards!! #CFD”

Michael is the son of Philip and Jean Allan of Magee and a Magee High School Graduate and graduate of Co-Lin Community College.
