“Magee is in good shape,” according to Mayor Dale Berry who came by MageeNews.com for a sit down and shout out! “I want to inform the public that what was said on FaceBook about the City of Magee being in financial trouble..is FAKE news…just like Trump says…FAKE news,” explained Berry.
Mayor Berry brought facts and figures to back up his claim. Sales tax for the month of April was $214,735.03 as compared to $207,144.69 in 2019. The P/R Truck & RTV Kubota note matures in June of 2020 (fee is $617.20 mostly). The Street Sweeper purchased in 2015 note matures 9/20 (cost of $799.13 monthly). The Sewer Machine note matures in 4/21(cost of $884.99 monthly). The Kubota Tractor note matures 2023 (cost of $738.37 monthly ).
City Hall is now open to the public as well as the Police Station.
The Mayor reminded everyone that twice weekly garbage pick up goes back into affect Monday, June 15, 2020.
Berry stated that Christian Carrico and Alderman Whitney Baker are working on a clean up plan for the City Park. Anyone wishing to assist in this project can call City Hall and have their name added on a list to volunteer.
The homeless situation in Magee was discussed. The police are aware of areas where people are staying and are addressing the problem.
