The Scriptural passage chosen for today is found in 1 Thessalonians 4: 11-12: “Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.” What wonderful words of encouragement for anyone who wishes to live a life of quality and fulfillment! The early church members were often encouraged through letters intended specifically to instruct them in proper Christian conduct. They were to be a separate people, holy, according to principles set down by Christ during His earthly ministry. Christ didn’t try to be a rock star. He didn’t place Himself in places of prominence merely to be seen. No, he lived out His brief 33 years by example, as we are to do today if we claim to be followers of His. Let us lead by example and live lives which would be pleasing to God. Not to fret. Men will take notice and know. Let others see Jesus in you and in me! Amen!
