On October 5, 2018, Mendenhall Elementary School held its annual reading fair.

The projects completed were from either fictional or nonfictional books that the students chose to read. The K-4th grade students were to complete the projects according to the guidelines set forth by the Mississippi Department of Education. Students either worked alone, in a group of 2 or 3, or with the help of family members. The projects were judged in each specific division. The judges for the reading fair were Patrice Boykin, Aleta Sullivan, Cindy Allsworth Jones, Laureen Lockhart, and Laurel Crawford. The staff at Mendenhall Elementary was extremely proud of the projects submitted this year and look forward to seeing what great projects will come forth next year! The next step for the first place winners is the Simpson County District Reading Fair. This event will be held on November 9, 2018 in the Magee Elementary Gymnasium.
