Magee High School’s Senior Night football game is on October 19th at Trojan Field.  The game starts at 7:00 pm. Seniors from the football team, cheer squad, and band will be recognized at 6:30 p.m. 

The Pride of Simpson County will be honoring their senior band members.  The seniors that will be recognized are:

Laylia is in the color guard and plays the clarinet in the band. She is the daughter of Karla Jones. She is the captain of color guard and plays tennis. She is in the MHS Beta Club and Media Club, is a Student Council Senior Representative, was awarded Girls State for being in the top 5% of her class, was awarded Superintendent award. Her favorite quote is her own personal motto, “Success is failure because failure is what makes you try, and trying is what makes you succeed.”

Caleb Fortenberry

Caleb plays quint drums in the band. He is the son of Kim and Shane Fortenberry. He has revived Principal’s Scholar and Vo-Tech awards. He would like to “thank all of [his] brothers on the Magee High [School] Drumline for an amazing high school experience.” His favorite quote is, “Whatever I will become will be what God has chosen for me.” ~Elvis Presley

Cynahmon Lee

Cynahmon plays trumpet in the band. She is the daughter of Audarshia and Patrick Flagg. Cynahmon plays soccer, is in the MHS Beta Club, and is the MHS Student Government Vice-President. She also has received the Superintendent’s Scholar award and the Citizenship Award. Her favorite quote is, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hannah Newsome

Hannah plays clarinet in the band. She is the daughter of Kimberly and DeAndre Newsome. Hannah is involved in the Magee High Band, MHS Media Club, HOSA, MHS Beta Club, and National Honors Society and is a Student Council Senior Representative. She also received the Superintendent’s Scholar award. Her favorite quote is, “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” ~Maya Angelou

Ben McGrew

Ben plays snare drums in the band. He is the son of Joyce and Terry McGrew. He has received awards in ACT workkeys, Principal’s Scholar, Most Improved in Automotive, and is ASE certified. His favorite quote is, “The two most important days in your life is the day you were born and the day you find out why.” ~Mark Twain

Soumya Middleton

Soumya is in the color guard and plays the clarinet in the band. She is the daughter of Dewayne and Tan Middleton. She plays tennis for MHS, is the Student Government President, is in the MHS Beta Club, Yearbook Club, Art Club, and Bible Club. Her favorite quote is, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.” ~1 Peter 2:9

Kristen Rice

Kristen is in the color guard and plays the flute in the band. She is the daughter of Tina and James Rice. She has played the flute in the MHS band since the 6th grade and joined the MHS color guard her senior year. Her favorite quote is, “The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.” ~Helen Keller

Carolyn Robertson

Carolyn plays flute in the band. She is the daughter of Gregory and Anita Robertson. Carolyn plays softball for Magee High school, is in MHS Beta Club, and has received the “True Grit” award in softball. Her favorite quote is, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” ~Winston Churchill

Beni Rojo

Beni plays snare drums in the band. He is the son of Sergio Rojo and Brittney Gibson. He has received six drumline marching festival trophies and two trophies for being the number one drumline in the region. His favorite quote is, “The journey is more important to me now. There’s no guarantee no matter what. We get one run in life.” ~Paul Walker

Adelle Sullivan

Adelle plays flute in the band. She is the daughter of Chris and Amanda Sullivan. Adelle is in MHS Beta Club, has received Superintendent’s Scholar every year in high school, in the MHS 22+ Club for her ACT score, and was chosen for Girl’s State for being top 5% of her class. Her favorite quote is, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” ~Eleanor Roosevelt
