The Mississippi Scholars – Simpson County Steering Committee is proud to announce its annual Mississippi Scholars and Tech Master Scholars Recognition Reception, celebrating the outstanding achievements of high school seniors from Magee High School, Mendenhall High School, Simpson Academy, and the Simpson County Technical Center who have met the program’s rigorous academic and community service standards.

This year’s event will be held at the Magee High School Auditorium on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 6:00 pm, and will feature Mr. Drummonds McAlpin as the keynote speaker. Mr. McAlpin serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Southern Pine Electric Cooperative. He will offer words of inspiration to the students as they prepare for their next chapter.

He has served Southern Pine for more than fifteen years. During that time, he held several leadership roles within the cooperative, including District Manager and Vice President of Administration, before being named President and CEO.
