The late Jacob Allan was a young man who loved sports. He spent many a “day and night” at the Magee Sportsplex. Jacob made a memory with the people he touched during his short life…they loved him…they respected him…they wanted to be his friend. Jacob loved everyone. He was the type young person who always spoke…no matter the age. He was a “huger.” Often, he wrapped those precious arms around everyone he met.
Following his untimely death, the Baseball Parent Association members knew they wanted to honor Jacob and his family. Tuesday night, at the Michael Dunn building, the unveiling of a bench in memory of Jacob and in honor of his family took place.
As I observed the ceremony…looking at the family…listening to the words…my heart ached deeply for the precious family and friends…but I also experienced such a pride that our Parent organization donated a “memory.”
When you lose a child, one of the greatest fears is that your child will be forgotten. The Baseball Parent Association made sure this would never happen to Jacob and his family.
To the Allan family…prayers will be with you forever. You are loved!
To the Parents Association…thank you.
Every person that sits on the “Jacob Allan” bench will “know” Jacob.
Memories for a lifetime….
