WESSON – Construction is set to begin on May 20th at Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Wesson Campus for a project funded through the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT).

Co-Lin will use the MDOT grant funds to construct new sidewalks, add speed tables, and replace fencing. The primary area in need of these additions are high traffic areas for vehicles and student walkers, including the area between Fortenberry Career-Technical Building and Stone Stadium. This area is the direct route from the residence halls to Stone Stadium, Fortenberry building, and the Wesson Building and is walked daily by hundreds of students. There are currently no sidewalks in this area.

The project will begin at Anderson Building with new sidewalks and fencing around the perimeter of Stone Stadium. This will add a safe walkway between Fortenberry Building and Stone Stadium, along with increasing accessibility for pedestrians and game-day spectators. Speed tables will also be added along the roadway. The current cyclone fencing on the visitor’s side of Stone Stadium will be replaced with wrought-iron fencing and brick columns. These changes will help ensure the safety of college students, staff, and other pedestrians.
