Mary Ainsworth May gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Hillcrest Nursing Home. Born on July 31, 1925, she was the daughter of Rice and Maggie Jane (McIntyre) Ainsworth.
Mary had an identical twin sister, Myra Ainsworth Stringer. They grew up in the Goodwater community and even as married adults, people still could not tell them apart.
Together they owned M & M Bakery in downtown Magee for many years. They cooked countless lunches for the Magee Lions Club. There wasn’t much that they couldn’t conquer as a team.
Mary is survived by a son, James Rice May; daughter, Marie May Lofton (Jack); two grandchildren, James William May, Allyson Hollier (Greg) and sister-in-law, Rose Ainsworth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rice and Maggie Jane Ainsworth; husband, Billy G. May; brother, Wiley Ainsworth; sisters, Lillie Maddox, Codie Duckworth, Myra Stringer, Nell McCall, Willie Ainsworth; daughter-in-law, Claudene May and grandson, John S. Lofton.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2020, in Goodwater Cemetery with Brother Michael Giles officiating.
