Margaret Smith Berry, 85, of Pinola, MS, completed her journey here on earth on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at The Asbury in Hattiesburg, MS. She now resides with her Lord and with the others who have gone before her.

Visitation will be held at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall on Thursday, January 16, 2020, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday, January 17, 2020, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The service will immediately follow in the Chapel at 11:00 AM with burial at Stonewell Cemetery in Shivers.

Margaret was born August 10, 1934, to James Earl Smith and Erma Kennedy Smith. She retired as a teacher’s assistant after many years in the school system where she enjoyed interacting with children of all ages. She was a faithful church member and looked forward to teaching Vacation Bible School each summer. She was a member of Harrisville Baptist Church and The Auxiliary of Gideons International.

She enjoyed cooking, working in her garden, and spending time with family and friends. Margaret cherished the time she spent reading her Bible and praying. She was a beloved prayer warrior. To know Margaret was to love her.

Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Van Kelly Berry; brothers, Rev. James Smith and Charles Smith; sisters, Alma Jones, Alice Callaway, and Mary Pace.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert Kelly Berry; two daughters, Alicia Berry Blair (Charles Ray) and Martha Berry; brother, John Smith; four grandchildren, Caleb Berry (Britta), Rachel Blair Gray (Ricky), Amanda Blair, and Kristen Bush; and two great grandchildren, Ella Marie Berry and Gabriel Berry.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Gideons International or to Harrisville Baptist Church.
