James Scotty Kennedy passed away in the early morning hours on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. He was born on January 25, 1979, to Barbara Touchton Tanner in Jackson, MS.
James was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Douglas Kennedy Jr.; his sister, Meachelle McAlpin; his maternal grandparents, Jessie Wayne Tanner and Mary Tanner Gentry; and his uncle, Stanley Tanner.
He is survived by his daughter, Allyssa-Roddy Kennedy; brothers, Josh Kennedy (Crystal), Timothy Kennedy (Jeanie); sister, Jennifer Tanner (Randy), along with a host of relatives and friends.
James loved his daughter. He also loved his family and just being with them. He was a diehard MSU fan who rarely missed a game when they were playing.. He enjoyed going fishing, playing video games, and drawing. James was the definition of a gentle giant, just ask his nephew, who adored him. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm., and again on Saturday, November 22, from 8:30 am until the service, which is at 11:30 am. Bro. Jack Robertson will officiate with interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
