Magee Police to Receive New Uniforms

Earlier in the year, the City of Magee Board of Aldermen voted to purchase new uniforms for the City Police Department.  The uniforms are ordered and should arrive in 6 weeks.  Each office will have 4 short sleeve shirts, 1 long sleeve shirt,  5 pants, and a jacket. Chief Shane Little presented Blake Welborn’s name for full time hire.  The board approved the request.

In attendance at the August 2, 2022 Board meeting:  Mark Grubbs, Lane Steele, Patrick Brown,  Sue Honea, and Matthew Hickman by phone.  Mayor Dale Berry was out of town.

Lane Steele, Mayor Pro Tem, called the meeting to order.  Mark Grubbs led in prayer and the pledge of allegiance.

Deputy Fire Marshal Shane Steele reported of the five people who were served affidavits for property clean up, only two reported for court:  Myron Turner and Jimmy Kennedy.  Both Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Turner are working on their property.  Shane Steele will  report on their progress.  Cleveland Norwood, Katherine Kitchens, and Brandy Santos did not appear in court and were therefore, found guilty.  A fine will be accessed on Norwood, Kitchens, and Santos.  (Amount of the fine is not known at this time)

Darnell Moffett was introduced as the new Zoning Director following the retirement of David Dunn.  Mr. Moffett announced a zoning board meeting to be held August 23, 2022.

Alderman Mark Grubbs recognized Jesse Burch for his outstanding work for the city.  Jesse is picking up trash, weed eating, and working with the city crew.  

 

The next regular Board of Aldermen meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 6 PM.
