The Tractor Supply Company in Magee, MS, has donated a sunshade to the Copiah-Lincoln Community College (Co-Lin) Commercial Truck Driving Program operated by Co-Lin Workforce Education. The sunshade is a large, portable canopy that can be easily set up and taken down. The donation is a welcome addition to the program, as students spend a significant amount of time outside in the practice lot learning parking, pre-trip, trailer attachment, and other skills required to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL).

“We are very grateful for the support of Tractor Supply Company,” said Dr. Anika Floyd, Vice President at the Co-Lin Simpson County Center. “This donation will provide our students with much-needed relief from the sun and heat, and will help them to stay safe and comfortable while they learn the skills they need to be successful commercial truck drivers. We are proud to partner with Tractor Supply Company to support our students and the transportation industry.”

The Co-Lin Commercial Truck Driving Program is a 4-week program that prepares students to obtain a CDL. The program covers a variety of topics, including vehicle inspection, basic driving skills, and safety procedures. Enrollment is open for upcoming classes at the Simpson Center. Registration is due October 24, 2023. Learn entrance requirements and register at Co-Lin’s website www.colin.edu/truckdrivingschool or by calling Co-Lin Workforce Education at 601.643.8707. Enrollees must obtain a CDL permit prior to the class start.
