The Mississippi College women’s soccer team needed a win or a draw to advance to the National Christian College Athletic Associaton championship game, and they picked up a 1-1 tie against Trinity Christian College on Thursday afternoon at Austin-Tindall Soccer Complex.

The Lady Choctaws will play either Houghton College or Mid-American College in the championship game on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. (ET).

The Trolls (14-8-1) got on the board first, scoring the first goal the Lady Choctaws (14-3-4) have allowed the entire tournament. Skye Bryant scored an unassisted goal in the 28th minute to take an early lead.

It looked as though TCC would go into the half with the advantage, but senior Sayit Mejia Bello scored on a free kick in the final minute to tie the score going into intermission.

The Lady Choctaws would control play most of the match, taking 22 shots to just five for Trinity Christian. Mejia Bello led MC with six shots including the goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Andrea McDonald made three saves for the Lady Choctaws, while Sierra Christopher kept the Trolls in the game with eight saves.

The Lady Choctaws finished pool play with a 2-0-1 record to advance to the championship match.
