Magee Fire Department reported two early morning fires in our area.

At 4:03 the Boswell auditorium alarm sounded sending the Magee Fire Department to BRC. The fire fighters silenced the alarm, searched the premises finding no sign of fire or smoke. The alarm was resent with no activation when reset. According to a fire spokesperson, “It’s thought that a duct detector in the air handling system activated from the heat kicking on. Praise the Lord…false alarm!

At 5:47 911 was called concerning a fire at 314 Raleigh Drive. The fire originated near a wall heater spreading to the attic inside the wall. The MFD was able to stop the fire in the attic before spreading. Moderate damage. No injuries. Not sure of cause…would be an equipment malfunction, combustibles too close to heater, or improper installation of equipment. Investigation for cause of fire is ongoing.
