Juaquin Blackwell, charged in the shooting death of Deputy James Blair, entered a plea of not guilty through his lawyer in arraignment Thursday morning, June 10, 2021.
No bond was given to Blackwell. The charge is capital murder.
The trial date is September 28, 20221. A mental evaluation must be completed before trial. The mental evaluation can take 6-8 months; therefore, the trial will probably not take place on September 28, 2021.
Blackwell is housed in the Rankin County Jail.
