Jean Davis Russell, 68, of Mendenhall, passed away after a brief illness on March 20, 2025. She was born on December 23, 1956, in San Diego, California, to Roy Russell of Braxton, Mississippi, and Jean Colton Russell of Portland, Oregon.
She is predeceased by both her parents and her older brother, Robin.
She is survived by her sister, Karen Lewis, and nephews, Shiloh and Colton Lewis of San Diego; her first cousins, James May, Sylvia Roberts, and Gloria Thomas; and her second cousins, Melvin May and Jon Roberts of Mendenhall.
Jean worked as a supervisor at Fujitsu Microelectronics in their San Diego plant until the plant closed in the late 1980s. The company offered to cover the cost of retraining programs for their employees, and Jean took advantage of the opportunity to become a Pharmacy Technician. After graduation, she was hired as a pharmacy buyer at Sharp Hospital in San Diego.
During her summers in high school, Jean rode horses, went to the waterpark, sewn, cooked, and had fun with her cousins in Mendenhall. After her mother passed away, Jean moved to Mendenhall in 2003. She was hired as the buyer for the pharmacy at St Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. Jean absolutely loved her job and her many co-workers throughout her 20+ year career.
Jean was a beautiful soul with a kind, generous nature and wicked sense of humor. Her absence is deeply felt by all who knew her, and she will be forever missed.
St. Dominic’s Hospital held a remembrance service for Jean on April 17. Jean was cremated, and her ashes will be scattered at sea off the coast of San Diego as her final resting place, along with her parents and brother.
