Jack Lofton
(February 6, 1947 – August 12, 2023)

            Jack Lofton, 76 of Taylorsville, Mississippi passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at his home in the Summerland Community. He was born on Thursday, February 6, 1947, in Brookhaven, Mississippi.

            Jack was a member of Summerland Baptist Church in Taylorsville, Mississippi.  He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

            He was a graduate at Bogue Chitto High School in Bogue Chitto, Mississippi.  In high school he was elected as “Mr. Bogue Chitto”.  He then attended Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi, where he played football and basketball and earned his Bachelor’s Degree.

            After college he began his work career at Borden’s in Jackson, MS, Miami, FL, and Winter Haven, FL.  He then went to work for Judge Inc. in Tampa, FL, where he was an Executive Recruiter. In 1999, he moved to Summerland Mississippi, where he continued as an Executive Recruiter.  In 2005, he retired and began to enjoy life.  He worked in his garden, with flowers, and was an avid Alabama fan.  He will be greatly missed by all of loving family and friends.

            He was preceded in death by his father, J.T. Lofton; mother, Ruby Smith Lofton; and sister, Barbara Lofton Pepper.

            Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Connie Diane Gambrell Lofton of Taylorsville, MS; two daughters, Candi Lofton and Nikki Lofton both of Rome, GA; two nephews, Will Pepper (Holly) of Brookhaven, MS and his children, Bess and Lofton and Sawyer Pepper of Brookhaven, MS and his children Lizzy and Dianna; one brother-in-law, Tim Pepper (Renee) of Brookhaven, MS; and a host of other family members and friends.

            Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Summerland Baptist Church, 80 SCR 28-4, Taylorsville, Mississippi.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Summerland Baptist Church in Taylorsville, Mississippi. The burial will follow in Summerland Baptist Church Cemetery in Taylorsville, Mississippi. Bro. Eric Estes and Terry Grissom will officiate. Special music will be provided by Margaret Whobrey and Sally Wooten, and soloist Paula Hendry.  Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements. 601-785-6564.

            Pallbearers will be Will Pepper, Sawyer Pepper, Mason Grissom, Tommy Smith, Joe Hendry, and Donald Gambrell.
