The Simpson Academy Cougars opened their 2025 football season on the road against the Leake Academy Rebels. In a hard-fought battle, the Cougars came up just short, falling 29–26.

Both teams started evenly, each putting 6 points on the board in the first quarter. The Cougars gained momentum in the second quarter, adding 7 more to take a 13–9 lead at halftime.

The third quarter proved costly for Simpson, as the Cougars were held scoreless while Leake added 12 to swing the advantage, 21–13.

Still, the Cougars refused to quit. In the fourth quarter, they stormed back with 13 points of their own. Despite their late push, Leake managed to tack on 8 points to hold the lead and secure the win.

The final score: Leake 29, Simpson 26.

While the scoreboard wasn’t in their favor, the Cougars showed grit and potential that will carry them into the rest of the season.
