By James Davis
The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in Deuteronomy 18:4: “It is the Lord, your God, you must follow, and Him you must revere. Keep His commands and obey Him; serve Him and hold fast to Him.” The prophets of the Old Testament were in daily communion with God and delivered His messages directly to the people. Here, God’s children are being told precisely how they must live in order to please God. Idols were not to be worshiped. They were to be avoided at all cost. God’s children’s only hope for deliverance and redemption lay in the love and favor of God. All these centuries later, the message hasn’t altered. It hasn’t changed. Our only hope lies in God. He is our source of strength and life beyond this vale of tears. Let us keep our focus clear and never rely on things of this world to guarantee us anything. “My hope is built on nothing less….” Amen!
Okay, for those who’ll be out and about today, let’s remember to spread and share love, joy, and kindness with others. God expects it of us, and with practice, we’ve learned that it cost us nothing, and the rewards are out of this world!
Happy Thursday!
