On Tuesday, June 27, 2016, Judge Neil Olack of the United States Bankruptcy Court Southern District of Mississippi, entered an order appointing Scott Phillips as the Chief Restructuring Officer for Pioneer Health Services, Medicomp and each of the other seven Pioneer subsidiaries which to date have filed for protection from their creditors under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.  In addition to the nine Pioneer Companies now in bankruptcy, Scott Phillips will also have fiduciary for those Pioneer subsidiaries, like rural Solutions and others which have not filed for protection from their creditors.

As Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO), Scott Phillips will serve as the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pioneer Health Services and have executive management responsibility for all of the Pioneer family of companies.

The appointment of Scott Phillips was endorsed by all of the key constituents of the bankruptcy including Joe McNulty in his capacity as Chairman of the Pioneer Health Services Board of Directors.

Joe McNulty will continue to serve as Chairman of the board of each of the Pioneers Companies and in that capacity will be available to assist Scott Phillips, as needed, and oversee the Pioneer, Medicomp and individual hospital board’s responsibilities to monitor clinical quality and supervise the credentialing of healthcare professionals.

“Joe has devoted his life to the provision of quality health services in rural communities.  Even though he will no longer be taking an active role in the day to-day management of the Company. His legacy and outgoing commitment to rural communities will be honored during my tenure and the restructuring of Pioneer.  I will seek Joe’s advice and counsel where needed” said Scott Phillips

Phillips will be assisted by several senior member of the firm Healthcare Management Partners LLC (www.hempllc.com) (HMP).  Mike Morgan will lead the existing hospital CEOs and the leadership of Medicomp to accomplish their business goals and meet the healthcare needs of each of the communities which they serve.

Rick Jones will serve as the Chief Financial Officer (CF)) of Pioneer and each of the companies.  Rick is a Certified Public Accountant and seasoned healthcare CFO.  Rick will be assisted by Julie Gieger and Buddy Yates.  During Rick’s tenure as CFO, Julie will serve in the new position of Vice President and Director of Finance.  Buddy will continue as Corporate Controller.

Clare Moylan, Managing Director of HMP, will be working the next several months to stabilize the company and assist in the administration of the bankruptcy.

All members of the HMP team are career healthcare executives with years of experience in successfully leading healthcare organizations through difficult times of transition.  The company is not a consultant.  Rather, committed healthcare leaders who have consulting skills and are experience in leading healthcare providers through financial challenges similar to those Pioneer is facing.  HMP values are committed to providing quality care to every patient, maintaining hospitals and clinics as valuable community resources and providing each and every staff member with and safe and secure work environment.

A meeting was held Thursday in Magee with all of the staff of the corporate office.
