The Scriptural passage for today is found in Matthew 10:42: “If anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is My disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward.” Jesus is speaking, admonishing all within the sound of His voice and beyond to be hospitable, especially to those who follow Him. Great will be their reward. Isn’t it comforting to know that we can carry out one of Jesus’ commands by having fellowship with one another? A cup of cold water in charity given is remembered with joy in the sky. It might seem small to us, but let’s never forget that little is much when God is in it. I love the song by that title, in fact. “Little is much when God is in it. Labor not for wealth or fame. There’s a crown, and you can win it if you go in Jesus’ name.” Amen!
Let’s remember to share the love, joy, and kindness with others today as we make our way. This is supposed to be a joyous season. Let us reflect and give thanks for the tremendous gift God gave to us in the form of His Son Jesus Christ. As the BIBLE teaches: “No greater love hath any man than to lay down his life for a friend!” And Jesus did just that for all of us. Thanks be to God!
