I hate TRASH!

A Japanese auto executive traveled to Mississippi to scout locations for plant. Economic developers and those with influence drove him around, telling him all of the good things about their county and what great workers lived in this area, and showing him all of the great buildings, schools, etc located in his county. When the drive was over, they met with him and ask his impression of their presentation.   He told them they had a great presentation but he could not locate his plant in their county. Obviously they were upset and wanted to know what influenced his decision.

He told them that as they drove around, He noticed all of the trash and debris thrown all over the road and at intersections; the houses that had grass that had not been cut, trash strewn around, old toys, old barbeque grills, cars, etc. scattered around in their yards. This showed him that these people take no pride in their homes or possessions and therefore they would not take pride in building his cars.

Hope In The Midst Of Grief

September 2, 2026

What impression do we give others when they visit our homes? More importantly, what impression do we make on other people as they “visit” our lives?  Are we tolerant? Are we forgiving?  Are we slow to anger and quick to love? Or do we jump at any excuse to blame others for our problems? Do we hold grudges? Does it seem that we are content with life or are we mad at the world? Do we draw people to us by our attitudes and demeanor? Do people want to spend time with us? Or do they run when they see us coming?

The Japanese automaker made a valid point. We all could clean up around our homes and around our lives. Remove the rubbish of broken dreams, shattered hopes, and empty promises. Claim a better life by trusting in God’s love, not man’s promises. We need to get out of God’s way and let Him have control of our lives.

A.W. Tozer: “The reason why many are still troubled, still seeking, still making little forward progress is because they haven’t yet come to the end of themselves. We’re still trying to give orders, and interfering with God’s work within us.”
