The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in John 14:21: “Whoever has My commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves Me. He who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I, too, will love him and show Myself to him.” Jesus is telling us that we show our love for Him by knowing His Word and obeying his precepts. In turn, God will love those of us who love and obey Jesus, and They will commune with us in love. Isn’t that comforting and reassuring for the Christian? We can love because we are loved. Thank you, God, for your wonderful love and communion with those of us who believe, trust, and obey.
The charge is clear and you have it memorized by now: let’s get out today and share the love, joy, and kindness with all with whom we come in contact. “Let your life so be that all the world can see the joy of serving Jesus with a smile, a bright, shining smile.” (Love those lyrics from “Give the World a Smile,” a gospel song made popular in the 1950s by our very own Magee Harmonizers Quartet on radio station WSJC in Magee, Mississippi.) Happy Monday!
