Former Farmington City Clerk Pleads Guilty

JACKSON, Miss. – Today State Auditor Shad White announced that Debora Jackson, a former Farmington City Clerk, has pleaded guilty to one count of fraudulent statements to the government.

Jackson turned in fraudulent time cards, used sick/vacation leave that she did not have, and calculated overtime that was not in accordance with the Federal Labor Standards Act.

“We have a zero-tolerance policy for fraud in the State Auditor’s office and will continue to work with prosecutors to deliver record results for taxpayers,” said State Auditor Shad White.

Jackson was prosecuted in the Alcorn County Circuit Court. Jackson was sentenced to five years of supervised probation and has been ordered to pay $36,183.30 in restitution and $1,200 in fines.

Suspected fraud can be reported to the Auditor’s office at any time by clicking the red button at www.osa.ms.gov or calling 1-(800)-321-1275 during normal business hours.
