Defendant Dwight Nelson touched the minor child and had sex with her during and about 2013 in Pinola, Mississippi.

District Attorney Jones stated that “ADA Stephanie Breland-Wood and ADA Chris Hennis did an excellent job in trying the case.” Jones was pleased “the jury found Nelson guilty of these despicable crimes against this child.” Jones further added that “[his] office will seek the maximum penalties allowed by law and we will continue to pursue these sexual predators.”

District Attorney Jones went on to say that his office “prosecutes criminals without passion, prejudice, improper influence, political standing, financial standing, or regards to race” and it is his duty to “ensure that justice will be served with each and every case [his] office handles.”

Daniel C. Jones represents the 13th Circuit Court District which includes Covington, Jasper, Simpson, and Smith counties.
