Guillermina Saldierna Cook

(November 23, 1963- September 28, 2021)

The world lost a beloved mother, 57 year old, Guillermina Saldierna Cook, of Magee, Mississippi. She passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Merit Health Rankin. She contracted COVID-19, and died due to complications that arise from having this disease.

Guillermina was born Saturday, November 23, 1963, in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She met the love of her life, Charles Thomas Cook, in Mexico. They were together for almost 37 years. Guillermina had a passionate faith in Jesus Christ, and she embodied the teachings of Christ as seen through her selflessness. Her selfless acts and fondness for children led her to working as a translator for children at Five County Child Development Headstart to ensure their success. She was an example of an amazing mother, a caring and compassionate friend, and family to many.

Guillermina shared many hobbies with her mother, Engracia Quintanilla Flores. Their hobbies included gardening and crocheting. Through gardening she gained the love for roses, gardenias, hydrangeas, pansies, and lilies. The vibrancy of bright colors in spring was a sign of life, which was important to her. Pink, purple, and gold were her favorite colors. She preferred to live in the country where she could see the pine trees and butterflies while listening to the birds sing. She was a member of the Cornerstone Family Worship Center. She favored Christian worship music. Her dream destination would have been Jerusalem.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Saldierna Guerrero and Engracia Quintanilla Flores; her sisters, Guadalupe Vazquez Quintanilla; Maria de Jesus Vazquez Quintanilla; Maria de los Angeles Saldierna Quintanilla; and Olivia Vazquez Quintanilla.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Thomas Cook of Magee; daughter, Grace Olivia Cook of Magee; her two brothers Raúl Vázquez Quintanilla and Jaime Saldierna Quintanilla; sister, Maria Teresa Vazquez Quintanilla; and a host of nieces and nephews.
