The passage of Scripture chosen for today is found in Luke 2: 4-7: “Joseph went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to the town of Bethlehem in Judea, the birthplace of King David. Joseph went there because he was a descendant of David. He went to register with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him. She was pregnant, and while they were in Bethlehem, the time came for her to have her baby. She gave birth to her first son, wrapped him in cloths and laid him in a manager–there was no room for them to stay in the inn.” The simple, but beautiful, story of the birth of Jesus is one we hear from year to year, but it’s still “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” God, of course, orchestrated it with the full intent of providing a means by which all mankind could come to a saving knowledge of God through His only Son Jesus Christ. At this time of the year, Christmas, we Christians celebrate the miraculous birth of the baby Jesus. Not only is He an historical figure of greatest significance, but He’s also the Savior of the world. Oh, holy night! Oh, night divine! Amen!
