Grant Callen, founder and CEO of Empower Mississippi, joined me on a Zoom call Thursday morning, December 30, 2021.

Empower Mississippi’s goal is to help every Mississippian rise by removing barriers to success.

According to Grant, Empower MS worked alongside legislature leaders to make the case for income tax repeal in Mississippi.  Although the bill did not pass, Grant feels the work done in 2021 will bleed into 2022 with a positive affect to reach this goal.

Special Board Meeting of Simpson County School Board, Monday, April 27th, 5:30 PM

Mississippi became the first state in the South to adopt universal licensing recognition with House Bill 1263.  This means when a licensed professional move to Mississippi they will not have to jump though government red tape to begin working.

The legislature also made it easier to work in a number of professions in the cosmetology field.

With the backing and encouragement of Empower Mississippi, strides were made in addressing Mississippi’s prison system.  In June, Governor Tate Reeves signed into law major parole reform that puts public safety first while providing second chance opportunities to rehabilitated individuals.

Empower is dedicated to the mission of a quality education for every child, meaningful work for every adult, and justice for all

The attached  video gives plans for 2022.

It’s not just about policy, it’s about people
