George Michael Thornton, 68, of Raleigh, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was born Tuesday, December 30, 1952.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 22, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. The Burial will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Raleigh. Bro. Donnie Guy and Bro. Orlando Rankin will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 849-5031
Mr. Thornton was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a member of Coat Baptist Church in Magee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Winnie Thornton; brother, Don Thornton of Raleigh.
Survivors include his wife, Terry Thornton of Raleigh; son, Clay Thornton (Jessica) of Mt. Olive; step-daughter, Ashlyn Derrick of Raleigh; grandson, Jason Lee Yates; brothers, Doug Thornton of Colorado, Paul Thornton (Susan) of Raleigh, and Keith Thornton (Linda) of Pineville; sister-in-law, Ann Thornton of Raleigh; and a host of nieces and nephews
Pallbearers will be Jerry Fields, Rodney Hannah, Tom Curtis, Tommy Thornton, Chris Matthews, and Cody Scott.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Jones, Paul Strickland, Adam Hannah, and Marty Scott.
