Mississippi’s First Lady Elee Reeves addressed members of the Republican Women of Simpson County during their March meeting held in Mendenhall, sharing reflections on her time serving the state and the opportunities that role has provided.
Reeves spoke warmly about her experiences across Mississippi and the privilege of representing the people of the state. She described her service as First Lady as a meaningful season of giving back while discovering more of Mississippi’s communities, culture, and heritage.
Attendees also enjoyed hearing about the Governor’s Mansion, including updates, improvements, and changes made during the Reeves administration.
Club President Lisa Givens called the meeting to order. Faith Kennedy delivered the devotion and opening prayer, and Karen Moseley led the Pledge of Allegiance. Minutes were presented by Krissi Kahn and approved by members. Treasurer Renae Miller delivered the financial report. Judy Yates introduced the guest speaker, First Lady Elee Reeves.
Approximately 40 members and guests attended the meeting. Ruby Ainsworth was unable to be present due to health concerns.
Members were reminded of several upcoming dates: voting on March 10; the Magee Chamber Banquet at First Baptist Church Magee on March 26 at a cost of $25; and the Ruby Ainsworth Scholarship Gala scheduled for Saturday, March 28 at 6:00 p.m.
The organization’s next meeting will be held April 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the E911 Building. Featured speaker will be Andy Gipson, Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce.
Lunch was served following the meeting.
