David Wade with Central Mississippi Planing and Development met before the board to discuss redistricting due to the new census count.

Ward 2 had highest population with 17%. Ward 4 had the lowest population. Changes were suggested for the two districts. The board will vote on the approval at a later meeting.

Chief Shane Little requested permission for Dispatcher Becky Freeman to attend the Ms 911 Coordinator class in Biloxi on October 24-28, 2022. The board granted the request.

Chief Little advised the police department had been very busy in the last days making arrest on Hwy 49 for Marijuana, 5th Ave 13 Grams of Crystal Meth, and safety check points resulting in marijuana findings.

The Fire Department asked permission to purchase a new fire apparatus. The cost is $639,000. The city would be looking to pay somewhere in the $300,000 + area for the vehicle. The vehicle would be approved now and delivered next summer 2023. Mayor Dale Berry advised he would like to talk with Bret Duncan, accountant with Prince CPA,  to see if funds would be available. Alderman Sue Honea advised the board did not need to sit on this decision long and needed to make a decision before prices increase. The board tabled the decision until a special called meeting Monday, July 11, 2022.

The board advised any zoning questions between now and the next 90 days would need to be answered by staff in City Hall and problems brought before the alderman.

The board approved moving forward with property located at 106 4th Avenue SW. The property was damaged by a fire and has been left unattended. A hearing concerning the property will be held August 2, 2022 at City Hall beginning at 6.

Andy Bearele addressed the board and thanked them for the help that has been given to keep McNair Springs clean.  Andy has continued to volunteer cleaning at McNair Springs.

The board entered executive session to discuss personnel matters.

A vide is attached of the meeting.
