A local citizen shared this picture.  Is this how we want our city to look?  Who is responsible?  Who is supposed to rake up the trash and deposit?

At some point in time, the responsibility lies on the owner of these apartments and the residents.

I have shared the picture with  Mayor Berry, City Superintendent Tim Bray, and Property Manager Shane Steele.  I feel certain the area will be cleaned by the city on Monday (we’ll see).

But is this the city’s responsibility?  In my opinion no.  The job of the city is to collect bagged garbage and large items (if moved to the road).

How must responsibility do you feel is the apartment owner and the apartment manager (if they have one)?

I know our garbage pick up is a problem sometimes even when a resident has bagged their garbage.  To me, unpicked up bagged garbage should be reported to the City Hall (601-849-3344).

This “beautiful” site is located on 11th Avenue SW—leads straight to Highway 49, Walmart, and the shopping and eating district.  When school is in session, parents and busses pass this area daily.

How can we teach our children not to litter when as adults we are probably the worse.

As you know, I am sick of the mess in our city.  We are working hard to alleviate the problem.  Two steps forward and we get three steps back.

In Magee, there are so many people who keep beautiful yards and businesses.  Don’t think you are not noticed.  I think I will start featuring proof positive a citizen can make a difference.
