At the February 18, 2025, Simpson County Board of Supervisors meeting, EMS director John Kilpatrick reported that all fire departments in the county are working well together.  Kilpatrick reported that monthly training meetings are held monthly at the 911 office.  John explained if schools would allow firemen to come into the school to explain the importance of firefighting and encouraging new members. “We need firemen,” stated Kilpatrick.  Anyone interested in joining a fire department is encouraged to contact their local fire department.

Put out…not to watch,” explained Kilpatrick is the mission of the fire departments.  The fire departments will no longer burn old or dilapidated houses/structures in the county.  A State law prohibits the burning of structures even as a training event.  DEQ will not allow the burning of structures.

John Kilpatrick explains the law not allowing burning of old houses or structures.
