IMG_0477 IMG_04762016 is off to a great start and so are the elected officials. Supervisor District 2, Danny Craft, was riding and inspecting  roads in District 2. Tuesday,  he stumbled across trash that had been thrown on the side of the road located on the North side of Big V Road in Simpson County.  Mr. Craft immediately called Sheriff Don O’Cain to report the incident. Littering is against the law and comes with hefty penalties.  In Mississippi, the fine is first conviction: Fine between $50 and $250, with the option of community service, payment of damages, removal of waste, and payment of agency cost. Subsequent convictions: Minimum fines doubled.

Mississippi Miss. Code Ann. §97-15-29 First conviction: fine between $50 and $250, with the option of community service, payment of damages, removal of waste, and payment of agency costs. Subsequent convictions: minimum and maximum fines doubled.

Please be aware all Supervisors and Sheriff  Department personal in Simpson County are riding and inspecting the roads for any wrong doing. If you see someone throwing trash,  please report to the sheriff department or a supervisor. If you are transporting debris or trash in an open carrier from one location to another make sure all items are tied down and secured to where they can not fall off vehicle or blow out.

Let’s keep our county beautiful and liter free.

I really wish that the sides of the road at Chapel Bridge at strong river would get cleaned up. I would really love to see signs up to warn people of fines for throwing trash out there.
