Representatives from Copiah Lincoln Community College met before the Board of Supervisors Wednesday, February 21, 2018.

President Dr. Ronnie Neetles, Incoming President Dr. Jane Hulon,  Vice President Dewayne Middletton, and Board Member Steven Amman asked the board for the continued support of Co-Lin for their new endeavor.

Simpson Campus of Copiah Lincoln Community College has grown and a new building is needed. Co-Lin is not asking for any tax increase or additional monies from the county, just their continued support.

The new building will eliminate the temporary trailers that used for computer and science labs.  The computer and science labs will be located in the new building in addition to two new technical programs.

The welding program, which is now taught at the Simpson County Technical Center, will  be taught at the Co-Lin campus once construction is completed. The welding  course is designed to prepare the student for employment and advancement in an occupation which requires knowledge and skills of welding.

A new  Automation and Control Technology program will be added. This program focuses on electricity/electronics, fluid power, motors and controllers, programmable controls, interfacing techniques, instrumentation, and automated processes. The Automation and Control Technology program  is a two-year technical program. Upon graduation, the student will be qualified to seek employment as entry level electronics, instrumentation, robotics, automation, and maintenance technicians.

Co-Lin is a Workforce Education Provider.  Students receive the skills, knowledge and training necessary to be career-ready. Workforce Education provides services to employers, employees and individuals which include training opportunities designed to enhance an employee’s performance. Wesson Campus teaches these programs. Now students will have the opportunity to take these classes locally.

Construction, hopefully. will begin later this year. The building process will take a full year. Targeted opening date is August 2019.
