Charlotte Faye Havens Newman
(November 30, 1949 – February 17, 2023)
Charlotte Faye Havens Newman went home to be with her Jesus on Friday, February 17, 2023, at the age 73, peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving husband and children.
Faye was born to John Louis “L.J.” Havens and Juanita “Shorty” Ainsworth Holmes on November 30, 1949, in Wiggins Mississippi.
She started dating her husband, Charles W. Newman in 1965. She would then marry the love of her life on May 23, 1966, and had five beautiful children and five even more beautiful grandchildren and then six great-grandchildren. Faye loved to cook her favorite chicken and dumplings with her helper (Charles), crocheting, attending church every time the doors were open, singing in the church praise team and choir, listening to her favorite gospel music, traveling to her second home in Taylorsville, and but most of all, spending time with her family. She had a love for any kind of animal that could not be explained.
In her earlier years of life, while raising five children, she worked in various locations as a Nursing Assistant. She then went to work in the nursery at George County Hospital taking care of newborn babies. She would crotchet a blanket for the newborn babies as a gift from her. She then retired working in the bakery at Walmart in Lucedale, Mississippi.
Faye was a faithful and devoted member of Lighthouse Worship Center in Lucedale, Mississippi. She had a passion for serving the Lord with all of her heart, soul, and might. She continued to sing in the church praise team and church choir until her health caused her not to be able to do so. Throughout all the challenges she had during her life time, she never lost her faith and trust in her Savior. She will be greatly missed by all her loving family, church family, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her son, David Michael Newman, her father, John Louis “L.J.” Havens, her mother, Juanita Ainsworth Holmes; her sister, Catherine Belle “Cathy” Havens Dixon; and sister-in-law, Mae Havens.
She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-seven years, Charles W. Newman of Lucedale, MS; her children, Brenda Newman Williams (Richard Lambert) of Lucedale, MS, Katherine Newman Carrigan (Brent) of Pinson, AL, Paul Newman (Chevy Nickerson) of Lucedale, MS, and Arthur Newman of Taylorsville, MS; five grandchildren, April Fields Collier (Jay), of Mobile, AL, Zachary Landrum (Gabriella) of Pinson, AL, James Lee Fields of Lacey, Washington, Dawson Landrum of Gulfport MS, and Jacob Fields of Lucedale, MS; six great-grandchildren, Tobi, Titus, Thad Collier, of Mobile, AL, Anna Fields of Lacey, Washington, Bo Hill of Lucedale, MS, and Kayden Landrum of Pinson, AL; three brothers, Jackie Havens (Irene) of Vancleave, MS, Jimmy Havens of Vestry, MS, and Joe Havens (Lisa) Lucedale, MS; special friend/care giver, Stefanie Hayes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. until service time at Lighthouse Worship Center, 18194 Highway 26 W., Lucedale, Mississippi 39452.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Lighthouse Worship Center. The burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah United Pentecostal Church Cemetery, 331 Hwy 594, Leakesville, Mississippi 39451. Pastor Darrick Hoyt, Bishop Larry Hoyt, her son Bro. Arthur Newman, and Bro. Brent Randall officiate. Music will be provided by Sandra Merritt and the Lighthouse Worship Team. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville, Mississippi is in charge of arrangements. (601) 785-6564
Pallbearers will be James Fields, Zachary Landrum, Dawson Landrum, Chris Burns, Richard Lambert, and Jonathan Gibson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Jerad Murphree, Phil Bradley, and The Lighthouse Praise Team and Choir.
A special thanks to the wonderful staff and care givers of Enhabit Home Health especially, Natisha, Robin, Jessica, Chelsea, and Kellie, to the George County Regional Medical Center (Dr. Henderson, Regina, and Karen), the Hospice of Light, to the best church family a person could ask for, and most of all to Stefanie (mom’s care giver that became her step-daughter), for the awesome care that was provided to mom and dad over the years.
