Charity Maurine Rogers Sitz, 94, of Taylorsville, Mississippi, passed away from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at Landmark of Collins in Collins, Mississippi. She was born Tuesday, March 16, 1926, in Covington County, Mississippi.

            Visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Taylorsville, Mississippi, and Saturday, February 27, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until service time.

            Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. The burial will follow in Barnes Cemetery, Hot Coffee, Mississippi. Dr. Frankie Clark will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements. (601) 785-6564

            Maurine attended Salem School in Covington County just east of Collins, where she graduated in 1943.  She then attended Jones County Junior College.  Her parents owned and operated Rogers’ Grocery on Main Street in Taylorsville for many years before retiring in early 1970.  Her work career included Smith County Bank (1968 – 1971) and Southern Pine Electric Power Association from 1971 until her retirement in 1991.  Through the years, Maurine has been an active member of the Unobee Chapter of the Daughters if American Revolution, and the Taylorsville Garden Club.  She is also a member if the “Lydia” Sunday School Class at Taylorsville First Baptist Church.  She has lived in Taylorsville for approximately 50 years and was married to the late Emmett Sitz for 23 years.  Maurine is a renowned cook whose delectable dishes have been abundantly enjoyed at countless gatherings across the South.  She will be greatly missed by all of her loving family and friends.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Sitz; parents, Louie Burlon Rogers and ML Rogers; paternal grandparents, John Louie and Onie Chisholm Rogers; maternal grandparents, William Thad Rogers and Ollie Walker Rogers Stewart; two great-grandchildren, Bridget May and Tynell May; one son-in-law, Dodie Blakeney; three brothers, Ray William, Johnny Thad, and Joseph Burlon.

            Survivors include her five loving children, Lee May, Sr. (Mary), Marilyn Juroe, Yvonne Dees (Kenneth), Paul Pinkerton, Jr., and Karen Blakeney; sixteen grandchildren, (Bud) Lee May Jr. (Lori), Ken May (Cindy), Chris May (Jennifer), Dianne Walters (Josh), Leah Green (Dusty), Alison Juroe, Sam May (Toni), John-William Juroe (Maria), Josh Juroe (Christina), Sarah Kelly (Patrick), Suzanne Dees, David Dees (Olivia), Kristy Singleton (Joey), Devin Pinkerton, and Donna Deuter; thirty-six great-grandchildren, Aaron May, Madison May, Valerie May, Gwen May, Audra May, Teri Robinson (Clay), McKenley May, Alec May, Alyce May, Bryce May, Cason Walters, Declan Walters, Thomas Green, Mary Helen Green, Skyler Amerio, Samantha Amerio, Summer Amerio, Christian Gougis, Lizzy Roberts-Juroe, Jacob May, Amanda May, Isaac May, David Juroe, Michael Juroe, Evie Juroe, Caroline Kelly, Archer Dees, Lona Singleton, Sam Singleton, Lilly Singleton, Alyson Deuter, Zack Howell, Lee Southwell (Whitney), Andee Thomas (Stephen), and Bridget Juroe; six great-great-grandchildren, Hayden Robinson,  Hollyn Robinson, Aubrey Southwell, Kate Southwell, Grayson Southwell, and Chandler Thomas; one daughter-in-law, Linda Pinkerton; one sister-in-law, Margaret Rogers; and a host of other family members and friends.

            Pallbearers will be “Bud” Lee May, Jr., Ken May, Chris May, Sam Juroe, David Dees, and Devin Pinkerton.
