Bully Bloc Endorses Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann for Reelection

Jackson, Miss.—Bully Bloc, the political action committee made up of friends and alumni of Mississippi State University, endorsed Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann in his bid for reelection today. Lindsey Simmons, Chair of the Executive Committee, cited Hosemann’s commitment to student success and innovation at the state’s institutions of higher learning.

“Lt. Governor Hosemann has been a friend to Mississippi State and an advocate for higher education,” Simmons said. “We are grateful for his hard work during his first term and look forward to four more years of his leadership.”

“Mississippi State is one of our nation’s premier universities, with top-notch academics, programs which deliver graduates into high paying jobs, and an irreplaceable culture,” Hosemann said. “We will always support Mississippi’s universities and are grateful for Bully Bloc’s endorsement for reelection.”

Under Hosemann’s leadership, the Legislature has invested $41 million in a new high performance computing center on campus. Mississippi State’s Supercomputer, “Orion,” is the fourth fastest academic system in the United States. The Legislature has also approved $35 million for the university’s Center for Cyber Innovation adjacent to Keesler Air Force Base and $45 million for the Duff Center which will house the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Clinic and Department of Kinesiology.

Elected as Lt. Governor in 2019 with more than 60 percent of the vote, Hosemann’s first term has been marked with multiple conservative policy wins. These include reducing the income tax rate to 4 percent, one of the lowest rates in the country; reducing the state’s debt by more than $500 million; providing an average raise of $6,000 for teachers; streamlining workforce development efforts; increasing access to high-speed broadband internet; and investing hundreds of millions of dollars in roads, bridges, ports, water and sewer, and other infrastructure.

Hosemann’s platform centers on securing Mississippi’s elections, cutting taxes on working people, addressing crime in our communities, investing in our roads and bridges, growing our economy, and improving educational opportunities.

As a steadfast conservative who spent most of his career as a businessman in the private sector, Hosemann served as Secretary of State before Mississippians voted to promote him to Lieutenant Governor.  Raised in Warren County, Mississippi, Hosemann spent the majority of his professional life as a businessman.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Notre Dame, a law degree from Ole Miss, and a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University.   Delbert and Lynn Hosemann have three children and eight grandchildren.

The Primary Election is slated for August 8, 2023, followed by the General Election on November 7, 2023.
