Billie Jean McAlpin Hughes, 85 of Mize, MS passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the MS Care Center in Raleigh, MS. She was born August 25, 1937 to William Enos and Mattie Dee McAlpin of Mize, MS.

She was a loving home-maker who married her high-school sweetheart, Harlon Bennett Hughes. They were married for 58 years. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and served many years at First Baptist Mize as Church Secretary and Vacation Bible School Director. She was employed as a seamstress during her early adult life, but chose to make raising her children her priority.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Tony Keyes will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlon Hughes; daughter, Rhonda Jean Hughes; parents, William (Enos) and Mattie Dee Warren McAlpin.

Survivors include her sons, Donald Bennett Hughes (Diane) and Ronald Brett Hughes (Lillie); daughter, Stacey Hughes Sistrunk (Wilson, Jr. ); grandchildren, Brittney Hughes Anderson (Dustin ), Brian Hughes, Adam Hughes, Jordan Sistrunk Everett (Zack ), Lauren-Faith Sistrunk and Summer Hughes; great grandchildren, Mackenna Ladner, Lexie Anderson, Elijah Anderson, Liam Anderson, Bentley Hughes and Presley Hughes.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gideons International.
