With deep sorrow but faith in God’s plan, we announce the passing of Beverly Wood Pacas, on January 16, 2026. She was a woman of faith, love, and kindness, always putting her family and others before herself.
Beverly was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana to the late Fredrick Daniel Wood, Jr. and Roberta Cupstid Wood, and lived a fulfilling life dedicated to serving God, her family, and her community. She graduated in nursing from Mercy Hospital-Street Memorial in Vicksburg, Mississippi in 1964, and was passionate about her nursing career. She later worked as a nursing instructor at Sullivan Technical Institute and retired from Louisiana Technical College as head of the Practical Nursing program.
She was a volunteer with Honduras Baptist Dental Mission, Friends of the Library, and Smith County Homemakers. Beverly was very active in church activities and loved caring for her babies in the nursery. Whether it was the Caribbean or Alaska, she lived for the adventure of her next cruise, loved playing with her bunko group, and working in her yard.
She is survived by her daughter, Melinda McNeese Braud (Larry); sons, Douglas Pacas (Debbie), Michael Pacas (Tim Cagney); her brother Frederick D. Wood, Jr. (Janet), sister Fabia Wood Kassin (Russell); grandchildren, Neal Zieske (Kate), Jessica Blakely (Trey), Adam and Eric Sweet, and Bethany and Thomas Turner; five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Robert H. (Bobby) McNeese, Jr. and Kevin Daniel McNeese, her beloved husband Rudolph Pacas, her sister Diana Costello, brother David Wood, and the father of her beloved children, Robert H. McNeese.
Visitation will be held at Mize Baptist Church on January 24, 2026 at 10:00 am with services to follow at noon. Pastor Tony Keys will officiate and pallbearers will be Wayne McNeese, Jr., Michael Kassin, Jeff Pigott, Neal Zieske, David Zieske, and Paul Zieske.
