Beverly Wood Pacas

With deep sorrow but faith in God’s plan, we announce that Beverly Wood Pacas passed away on January 16, 2026. She was a woman of faith, love, and kindness, always putting her family and others before herself.

Beverly was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana, to the late Fredrick Daniel Wood, Jr. and Roberta Cupstid Wood, and she lived a fulfilling life dedicated to serving God, her family, and her community. She graduated in nursing from Mercy Hospital-Street Memorial in Vicksburg, Mississippi, in 1964, and was passionate about her nursing career. She later worked as a nursing instructor at Sullivan Technical Institute in Bogalusa, Louisiana and retired from Louisiana Technical College, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as head of the Practical Nursing program. Beverly loved teaching nursing and was very dedicated to her students.

She was a volunteer with Honduras Baptist Dental Mission, Friends of the Library, and Smith County Homemakers. Beverly was very active in Mize First Baptist Church and she loved to volunteer in the nursery. Whether it was the Caribbean or Alaska, she lived for the adventure of her next cruise, loved playing with her bunko group, and working in her yard.

She is survived by her daughter, Melinda McNeese Braud (Larry); sons, Douglas Pacas (Debbie), Michael Pacas (Tim Cagney); her brother Frederick D. Wood, III (Janet), sister Fabia Wood Kassin (Russell); grandchildren, Neal Zieske (Kate), Jessica Blakely (Trey), Adam and Eric Sweet, and Bethany and Thomas Turner; seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Robert H. (Bobby) McNeese, Jr. and Kevin Daniel McNeese, her loving husband Rudolph Pacas, Jr., sister Diana Costello, brother David Wood, and the father of her beloved children, Robert H. McNeese.

Visitation will be held at Mize Baptist Church on January 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with services to follow at noon. Pastor Tony Keys will officiate and pallbearers will be Michael Kassin, Wayne McNeese, Jr., Jeff Pigott, Neal Zieske, David Zieske, and Paul Zieske.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of Beverly’s favorite missions, the Honduras Baptist Dental Mission, P.O. Box 1807, Collins, Mississippi 39428.
