Betty Compere, 95 of Braxton, MS passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026 in Braxton, MS. She was born Monday, May 26, 1930 in Jackson, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall in Mendenhall, MS. Burial will follow in Braxton City Cemetery in Braxton, Mississippi. Rev. Richard Rankin will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Compere, Sr.;  father, Oliver  Clarence  Ainsworth, Sr.;  mother, Addie  Keen  Ainsworth;  sisters, Haze  Glen  Evans, Martha  Carolyn  Weeks and Mable  Virginia  Ainsworth;  grandchild, Marie  E. Compere.

Survivors include her sons, Charles William Compere, Jr. and Oliver Andrew Compere, grandchildren, Patrick  Andrew  Compere and Addie  E.  Compere;  brother, Oliver Clarence  Ainsworth, Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Special music will be performed by Buddy Mullins.
