WHITFIELD – August Employees of the Month were celebrated at the August 27, 2025 Leadership Meeting at Mississippi State Hospital. Each Employee of the Month was given a plaque commemorating the achievement, along with a monetary gift. MSH Director James G. “Bo” Chastain thanked the Employees of Month, along with the August Service Award recipients, saying “There are many other businesses that would love to have you as an employee, but you choose to work here. For that, we are thankful!”
August Employees of the Month are:
•     In the area of Direct Care, Toni Johnson. Originally from East St. Louis, Illinois, Johnson now resides in Jackson, and serves as CNA Supervisor in JNH Direct Care. She attended Hinds Community College, and her favorite quote is: “This too shall pass.”
•     In the area of Clinical Service, Tequella Shoulders. Shoulders is from Jackson, and serves as an RN in In-Patient Services. She attended Hinds Community College and Excelsior University, and her favorite quote is “Do unto others and you would have them do unto you.”
•     In the area of Support Services, Tina Perry. Born in Woodville, Texas, Perry lives in Brandon, and serves as Accounting Technician II in Fiscal Services. She is a graduate of McLaurin High School, and her favorite quote is “Be the change you want to see in the world.”
The MSH Employee of the Month award recognizes employees who have made outstanding contributions to the hospital through their work. The program is sponsored by Friends of Mississippi State Hospital, Inc.
MSH, a program of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, was founded in 1855 and helps the individuals it serves achieve mental wellness by encouraging hope, promoting safety, and supporting recovery. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission.
