Magee Police Department responded to Walmart in reference to an assault in progress. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a Walmart employee had been assaulted. As officers worked to identify the suspect, dispatch received a call from the suspect’s mother stating she was bringing her son in. It’s important to note that no one had contacted her or the suspect she did it on her own. That’s what a parent who holds their child accountable does.
The suspect, identified as Norman Whitlock, was taken into custody and charged.
Please don’t let a moment of anger get the best of you. It’s simply not worth it. If someone is actively assaulting you, you have the right to defend yourself but words alone do not give you the right to assault anyone.
